Looks like there is room for it inside but getting it through the doors will be the questionable area.

Yeah. I'm thinking I may have to unbolt the bar that holds the door from opening too much. Internally there's plenty of space. I'm first going to try with an old worn out tire alone first. May have to" squish" it too with a ratchet strap.

Let all of the air out of it or enough to work it in. Not sure how much that that buys you but it has to help.

At first I'll do it only the tire by itself since I can pick up easier and deform it. If that works, then I'll try the fully inflated wheel. If it doesn't fit inflated, them I'll let the air out. I carry two ways to fill tires, so that's not an issue.

It fits!!!! It went in with no effort. I didn't have to unbolt anything on the door. Next to try with the complete wheel. First I'll have to organize the tie downs for the ratchets straps because the next time I put the complete wheel in, it's not coming back out. Way too heavy to be handling. Only downside is that I won't be able to use the Thorparts brackets I got.

Where did you pick up that cargo net that goes behind the front seats!? I could deff use one of those to keep the dogs in the back!!

Raingler Nets custom made them for me a few years ago. Remember I have a roll cage for the net to hold on. You would have to find or make anchor points in the interior.

I Duracoated in Flat Dark Earth some HUMMER letters from an H2 that were given to me. I plan to put them on the grill just like the H2. I'm doing it because I kept getting people asking me: "What kind of Jeep is that?"

LOL. I have had a few people ask me about my "Jeep " when I was in one of the H1s. Guess it is the grill or Jeep is like Kleenex. All tissues are Kleenex like all off road vehicles are Jeeps.

It's not a generic thing like Kleenex because when I tell them it's a Hummer they immediately say they thought it was a Jeep. I do believe it's a grill thing. Hence the reason that Jeep tried suing GM over the grill design.

Yeah I get that all the time. "What kind of jeep is that" "or is it a hummer ?, I thought it was a jeep!" Lol I always tell them when have you seen a overly wide jeep.

With the Vermont Overland Trophy slowly sneaking up, I've been getting a lot of stuff done.

Mission accomplished. Full size 40" spare is off the tailgate and now inside the truck. Made wood bases to hide original seat bolts otherwise they would end up damaging the spare. Tie downs and ratchet strap included to secure the heavy spare in case of an accident or roll. Safety net acts as a secondary if primary fails. GTG!!!!!

Yesterday, for Armed Forces Day, the local Harley store did a fundraiser ride/parade for the U.S. Veterans Corps. It was impressive because we paraded through the whole city, with a full Sheriff escort, and ended in the State Fair. The convoy was lead by a buggy and two Hummer H3s, followed by hundreds of Harleys.

I like the third seat on that sand rail. That would be a great place to put a drunk buddy with a paint ball gun.:woot:

Mounted the 48" HiLift "ladder" to the roof rail. I have a short HiLift inside the truck. This is just in case some extra lift or pull is needed that the short one can't provide.

It was an easy mount. Used two OEM rail tie downs (top center) and removed the thread insert that goes inside the rail. They use an M6-1.00 thread. For the two rear mounts (bottom left) I used a 40mm long bolt, a 1" washer, a 1-1/4" rubber washer, and a shock bushing I found at O'Reillys. That's all threaded to the OEM tie down threaded insert. The HiLift "ladder" is sandwiched between the rubber bushing and rubber washer. The bushing keeps it off the rail and absorbs vibrations and bumps. For the front mounting point (bottom right), which is the recessed mounting point used to hold the plastic rail molding down, I used a 60mm bolt, 1" washer, 1-1/4" rubber washer, and the two remaining rubber bushing front the shock kit. I had to sand the rubber bushings to a square shape so it fits in the recess. One of the rubber bushing fills the recess and the other stacks on top to keep the "ladder" off rail like other two mounting points.

Here's a pic of the shock bushing kit I found at O'Reillys. It was perfect because the two large ones were used for the two rear mounting points on the rail. The two smaller bushings were sanded square and stacked for the front mounting point which is recessed.

I had to bring home some 35's at one time and stuffed one behind the front seats and two in the rear and two on top but 40's I see are a tighter fit!! lol
That got me started looking for options like you are doing to keep the weight centered down low.
