ok, since we're posting just for the heck of it, I'll ask a stupid question: How did you learn to fabricate? What's a good way for someone like me to learn (works 9-5 in an office, wife, kids, boring suburban life, etc.)?

I thought about taking welding classes at the community college and getting a certification. Not to work, just for my own learnification (education?).

I thought about taking welding classes at the community college and getting a certification. Not to work, just for my own learnification (education?).

I would highly recommend a welding class. You'll learn the concepts and principles of it all, and get lots of practice with their equipment and supplies. It would be well worth your time.

I learned growing up on a ranch and fixing things and making what we needed. Town was 40 miles away so you just made stuff work or did without. I took it upon myself to find books and did lots of reading to improve my abilities. That was way before the Internet! [emoji12]

ha ha, that sounds like my grandpa. He had all kinds of home-made tools made from random stuff in random places on his farm. He even made his own golf club out of pipe.
