Any indication why it was charred? Getting too much voltage? Frayed wire? Have you had the alternator tested and is the internal voltage regulator working properly?

I'd try undoing the bolt completely and try re-indexing the key. It may or may not line up, but that's where I'd start. Curious, where did you get that recommendation?

Could be related to ABS, steering, cruise control, and probably a dozen other systems. You likely just need to review your work and compare the fuses to the layout in the owner's manual or top of fusebox.

Correct. We (meaning Reloader) used the fittings (cut down to size) from a dead rack to create this bypass. It's a good trail fix when the rack breaks to preserve the pump as well as the serpentine belt.
