    new transfer case purchase questions

I hear ya... I bet a lot of guys would like that too. Probably not enough H3 owners out there now to even consider making a kit...

    new transfer case purchase questions

There are a number of SAS conversion videos, etc ..and posts here. IDK how their H3's handle after that. Probably ok if done right. The aluminum front diff (on most) is kind of a weak point ...at a certain point but 35' should be ok. Unless yours has the cast iron front diff..

    new transfer case purchase questions

Unless you do heavy-duty rock crawling or have pretty big meats ...the 4:1 is a PITA IMO. I would rather have the 2:1 for normal trail use. It's too low for normal low range use like in snow, pulling vehicles out of ditches, etc. Plus it jerks the vehicle a lot during shifting. Those are...

    Steering Position Sensor issues.

Sounds like you're on top of it. How do you like the scan tool? I've browsed them a few times. What's the good/bad & ugly of them? I've also checked out the higher-end Launch units too. I'm more a Snap-on oriented, but at this point, it's getting harder to justify the software update costs...

    08 Alpha Slow Cranking

That's good. I'm sure he can re-do it in a snap. Or ...rebuilt starters have gotten a lot cheaper (and better) than they used to be. On my Jeep, it cranked slow for quite a while (years). Then it became intermittent. The brushes were worn to a nub. But hey they lasted since '87! Cranks like...

    08 Alpha Slow Cranking

Providing your cables are good, battery good, and connections are clean, and wires at the starter are tight and not pinched or frayed at their connectors ....I'd say remove & take the starter apart. Have a look inside. Usually the problems are obvious. They're easy and fun to rebuild. A couple...

    Steering Position Sensor issues.

How long have you owned the truck? Have you ever replaced the intermediate steering shaft? Did you try doing a reset? I don't know your problem and I can't see all the things you are seeing, but just speculating ...what comes to mind is: 1) SAS might have been damaged from a previous steering...

H3 H3 Tail Lamp Turn Signal Brake Light Issue

Does your truck have a receiver hitch? Also. A real common issue on these H3's is the plastic wire jacket on the rear taillight harness would rub through as it is located *just* above the rear bumper. I've read several posts about it over the years, esp when these were more common. Haven't read...

Help getting loud humming noise on my h3

I was also going to say front axle CV's Front driveshaft CV or loose splines. Bad u-joint?? Rear driveshaft loose front splines and loose output bushing (mine needed replacement). Or loose rear u-joint. Loose diff yokes? or Loose pinion bearing. Loose rear bearings Real common on these H3s are...

H3 H3 Tail Lamp Turn Signal Brake Light Issue

Were they LED bulbs btw?? They don't always play well. There are some newer truck forums I participate in, and guys explain about their bulb problems and then only after several back/fourth exchanges they remember, "Oh, BTW, ...I forgot to mention, they're LED bulbs".

    Subwoofer install question

To determine if your tk has a rear sub, if you look in the back hatch door of your H3, if you see slots with holes, on the L side below the side window, then your tk has the 8" sub. If no open slots, It was part of the Monsoon stereo system.

Engine starts, but stalls when I put it in gear and the wipers swoosh once.

Very possible. Good list. Also, on mine, the original owner had the air snorkel boot folded under ...beneath the clamp at the throttle body. Meaning a little fresh air was slipping through that gap and throwing off the MAP sensor reading. In other words it was goofing up the air/fuel ratio. It's...

You know when you really want something to work... frowny face...

Do you have steel rims, or aluminum? I take mine to the local GM dealer and have them Road-Force balanced. If you want a good balance job and don't want yer tires bouncing all over the place, its the only way to go. They charge $75 for 4 wheels. Most tire techs find a way to short-cut the...

    Rusted rocker panels

Sorry I didn't post this earlier as i was hoping. As per above, here's a van my buddy did for his work. He had to dig up these pictures ..I didn't have them on my new phone either. He fabricated up the rockers and door bottoms out of 304 SS a few yrs ago. They use a few vans for shuttling...

    Will it leak without it?

Here's a trick which works if you can get access to it: Get a jam-nut from the hardware store which is like 3/8" or 7/16"..something that is a tad larger than your stud. Jam nuts are low profile. Set or tape the jam nut over the broken bolt. Take your wire-feed welder and weld the stud inside...

Here we go again...Lol! What is the passenger door switch light bulb style/# ?

Just curious if you combed through like DigiKey or Mouser.com ...for bulb assemblies? And then there is like ..BulbAmerica.com. I'm in agreement with you ...*Some outfit* must carry them you'd think. Let us know if you come up with any. Cheers!

Im going to offer my full fabric oem ebony/pewter interior for sale

Did your rig die? Hit a deer? Are you parting the whole thing out, or just going a different interior direction? Just curious. I know you spent a lot of time on the interior, and did a fantastic job!

    Flex your odometer

That's the thing. No crate I-5's and GM support is rapidly dwindling. Basically just what's left over. They are prohibitively expensive to rebuild. A low mile used Colorado engine is the better way to go. But yeah, if a guy doesn't have problems, I've also seen ads where people are at 300k on...
