Sync'd my phone last night, so I have a few more pics to share.

I'm buried up with work right now, but I have a couple guys coming in Saturday night/Sunday to get this combo installed in my H3. I'm cutting it super close, since we leave for Vegas next Wednesday. If all goes well, and everything just works, I'll drive it. If not, I've got a plan B.

FYI, I had the adapter machined to clock the transfer case 3.5 degrees counter clockwise, which moves the front driveline a bit further out away from the transmission. Transfer case will still clear the passenger side torsion bar just fine.

how much offset can you have on those splined connections between the trans and the transfer case? Or is there some kind of flex joint in them?

Definitely cutting it close, but that is normal for most vehicles going to SEMA. I will be out there on Wednesday-Saturday but not with work, so I will actually be able to walk around the show.

What do you mean by offset? The transmission output shaft and the transfer case input shaft have to be perfectly aligned. The machined adapter has a pilot hole for both the trans and tcase, which fits very snug and allows both parts to be concentric.

And this H3 isn't going to sema per say, was just hoping to drive it out there and hit moab on the way home. LOL

ah, that makes sense, I read it wrong and was confused how you could make that work.

I figured you were just driving it there, hitting Moab is on my bucket list.

Excellent. Now I just wish I could bolt that up to an I5. I feel like Johnny Cash planning a Franken-Caddy-Hummer.

I was looking at the gear calculator at that grimm jeeper site, and the 6l80 basically perfect for anyone running 35s (V8, dunno about I5s). Lower first gear, lower RPMs on the highway, I can only imagine better MPG. Cadillac Escalade with 6.2L/6L80/AWD is getting 19 on the highway (which is obscene that we only get 16).

Also, I was still pretty confused about the wiring so I sent an email to TBMS. The guy called me back that afternoon and explained it, so I thought that was cool. Also, it makes sense how the wiring works now so there's that. This swap is at the top of my list now.

Can't wait to see the finished product. So as of right now, parts needed are a tune, resplined input shaft, and a wiring kit? Aint too bad.

The last over drive is 0.67 vs 0.7 on the 4L60, so mpg gains on the highway will be minimal (ive read on gmtrucks that gm predicts ~ 4% increase in mpg )
But with the swap ur getting a stronger trans, more gears which let u pick up quicker (that first gear gives u the same power as an axle ratio of 5.10), and the 5th gear combined with 35s make up to the same final drive ratio as a stock truck with 32s in 4th)

I am wanting the stronger trans & the gearing... 4% mpg is not that substantial but is the icing on the cake!

What I want to see is how much does it affect acceleration times! I know drivability will improve drastically in so many situations!

Made some decent progress on this finally...

Got the trans and tcase installed. Everything bolted right up as planned. The new tcase clock position worked out great, and everything clears. The stock 6L80e transmission mount bolted right up to my adapter and crossmember. Trans shift cable bolts right up too.
Waiting on a couple things I have on order to finish up the project. Also need to buy a bunch of Dex6 fluid.

Also got the new t42/t43 adapter installed in the factory t42 (transmission controller) location on the firewall, just above the e67 pcm. Still gotta pin 1 connection, and then run the transmission plug down to the trans and plug it in.
Going to pull the new adapter back out and paint it black I think. It's a raw finish plastic right now.

This setup should be able to start up by weekend!

I'm very eager to see it back on the road and trail. It should be a huge improvement and has the potential to be one of the top major mods for H3s.
