I signed up for a gym membership today. hopefully I can stick with it.

Ha! I just signed up for one yesterday!! I decided it was time to get back into it after a year off

When I first joined my old gym in 2009/10 I went from 165lbs to 210lb in about a year and a half, then I droped to 200lbs and stayed there for the next little while, then gave up the gym completly last april... dropped down to 175 :(
But thats all in the past now I am gunna try and get back to a health 195 and keep it there...

I'm at 185, and I have a gut. I'm trying to get back down to 160, which is 10-15% bf, then I'm going to try and get bigger again. I was never into getting huge. i'm already fairly built and I build muscle pretty easily so that's probably why. I just get fat because I eat a lot of junk food and soda and stuff.

Food is my biggest killer if I eat right and health I drop weight and look good fast 3-6 months of dieting and training...bi I'm miserable. I love food...that's my only real addiction. Like fluffy said "I don't want to live to 50, if I can't eat tacos" in my case is eating all junk food that's so good, high quantities of meat, cheese and wine.

ok, i've been going regularly for 2 weeks. I've gained 4 lb, which sucks, but i think it's because of fluid retention from beginning a workout program. That happened the first time I started lifting seriously, too. Next week's goal is no more soda and eating out. If I don't drink soda then I don't eat other junk food.

Focus on the look in the miror and not the actual weight. Heres my 2 1/2 month transformation
a966c7e1fe3cb7bd029bc2bbd70f26af.jpg
down 32lbs of fat and up 18lbs of muscle all measured by a 9 point bodyfat test. Down 12% bf. I have better comparison pictures but I don't think they're forum appropriate.

Bench went from 125 to 250
Deadlift went from 225 to 365
Ass to grass squat went from 205 to 305
Almost have all of my strength back

that's an impressive transformation now. so, just out of curiosity, how do the girls react? :D
don't quit working out!!!

I've gotten alot of compliments, and the up in self confidence is definitely an attractive quality. The thing that I love the most is when other people come to me asking for advice, help, and motivation. It really feels good to be able to help others in their endeavors.

I've always been on and off about lifting and I really let myself go this past year. But I took things seriously and been going hard the past 3 months

Question for all you gym gurus. So I just started gym on Monday after lacking some real physical fitness training for the past year and a half. Anyways yesterday was and and core workout day...but I was unable to finish the work out due to sever case of abdominal cramping...I literally got scare the **** out of me because of the pain I thought my ab muscles were going to explode that's how bad the cramps were I had to lay down on the machine for about 6-8 min applying pressure to my abs to ease up the pain from the muscle cramps I was literally going to call for help...it was that bad. Anyways after 6-7 min it passed everything came back to normality again...sort of I was sore, needless to say I decided to skip core and abs and went for cardio.

I was researching if this sort of cramping was normal and seems like it is...I also watch some tips and what to do...some people recommended taking a package of salt and water and other multivitamins.
Anyways any help is appreciate it

Any

I don't train abs, but I know the feeling. You just over exerted yourself, I would try cardio then abs cardio then abs in a circuit that way it doesn't happen again. Also you could try weighted workouts for your abs rather than body workouts.

I'll give a shot o that, I'm also thinking leg raises or pull ups...just no more crunches or sit-ups, and this cramping has also happen to me before when puking or just bending over, I'll go with the doctors and see if it due to lack of exercise or something else.
Anyways thanks for the input buddy.

Wow Derian06, your looking great. I wish I can be a teenager again.

Paner07 if it's a muscle cramp you might want to hydrate more and if you can stand it drink alittle pickle juice. If it's a stomach cramp definitely check with a Dr. before you get carried away with working out.

As for myself I'm on my 3rd week at the gym so far so good. My goal is to gain as much mass as possible before I start trying to drop my belly fat with cardio.

Thanks for the tip buddy, and I'm going to try the salt packet down with water. And I don't think its a hydration problem, since I piss clear 90% of the time I drink plenty of water...but maybe I'm not taking enough salt or potassium in my diet...I'm going to get a multivitamin. And see if it all helps...like I said it is my abdominal muscles that cramped up. I guess I'm just getting old lol...and since I'm out of shape I'm feeling the pains of it...but I'll still continue exercising.
