Painting the sliders and Thor Parts skid/UCP this weekend and then hopefully bolting them both on for the last time!

Not too bad if welds considering I used my 110V Flux core setup...

A little tip for the welding with flux core. If you spray the surface that you're laying the weld on with soapy water, you will get less and even no spatter balls.

Just dropped off the replacement spring at the spring shop and they should be ready tomorrow! Whoop!

The replacement Rancho spring complete with a military wrapped add a leaf is done and I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow and then I'll be installing it Friday evening to test out on the trail Saturday morning with the local Toyota club run.

I'll post updates on both the spring and the run at the end of the week

Anyone know what you are supposed to torque the U-bolts to when installing new leaf packs?

Just checked the Rancho install instructions and they list 60lbs so I'll go with that I guess!

Woah what a difference with the new packs compared to the old!
The rear measurement is now sitting at 27 1/4" on both sides... I figure it will settle a bit more after today's trail run with the Toyota club.

The ride is way better... And now that the shackle isn't banging into the frame every little bump!

When I pulled the flattened Rancho spring packs out there was no shim at all... Wonder why? Hope it didn't cause any extra wear on the rear end!

It would cause wear on the rear driveshaft nothing else...it should be ok but adding one isn't a bad idea

So I have been looking at some double beadlocks again... what would happen if I ran 3.5" backspacing? would that be ill advised? would I be going through hubs like nobody's business?

I have been looking at Trailworth Fab's setup and I like the look of the pressed in centers way more then the flat centers... but the pressed in can only come with 3.5'' BS... where as the flat centers I can get in 4.5'' back spacing (still 1'' out from stock)...

Any words of advise?

Stick with the most backspacing you can with still clearing the knuckle (i think 4.5" with rancho). It will be much less stress on your steering rack, wheelbearings and hubs as it will minimize the scrub radius with as close to stock backspacing as possible.
