Question: When did they come out with the 2005 H3?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think in 2004.

Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Thats what the instructions say. It also fits the Colorado and Canyons too. So maybe it just meant 05 for those trucks. Looks like 06 is first year for H3 though after i googled it.

So does this "cold air" intake eliminate the airbox which pulls cool air from the fender well, and replace it with an open filter that sucks hot air from the engine bay?

Not sure why you would come into somebodies for sale thread with your issues or agenda on a proven product and a solid company that stands behind their product. Not even sure if that's within the forum rules. Most of the time its not. I have gained power on dyno with Green products before. If you want to know some generic information on how it works check out their website, give them a call or email. Also, maybe look into how their filters are a little different than the other CAI places. Maybe you can even make your own thread about your opinions and thoughts. My for sale thread is not the place for that. Who does stuff like that?

Because a large majority of "cold air" intakes really aren't "cold air" or even "outside air". An extremely large percentage of them remove the factory filter box (which on virtually all modern cars is really good at drawing air from outside of the engine bay, like ours where the intake to the air box is through the fender and is sealed so it already is a true "cold/outside air" intake system) and then attempt to compensate for this foolish move by using some piece of sheetmetal or plastic try block off the filter from the engine bay. Unfortunately if you look at every product that uses this method after it's been installed, it leaves huuuuuuge gaps that allow the majority of air to be drawn in from the extremely hot engine bay. Most people that buy these systems either don't care or they don't understand that and just assume the manufacturer would never, ever do anything to swindle them.

The intake system you are selling here falls into the category of "warm air" systems, which really don't increase performance as much as they ought to. A proper solution is using the Air Doc intake tube to replace the bellows/resonator box and use a high flow filter in place of the factory one. The factory air box on the H3 is a true "cold/outside air" intake system, it just needs some minor tweaks to increase performance. For a complete refit, there are manufacturers like Volant that make an aftermarket intake system for vehicles, including the H3, that is a true cold/outside air intake, they keep the filter sealed in it's own box that they provide as part of their system and uses ducts to pipe air in from outside of the engine bay, making it a true cold air system.

So there is no need to get all personally offended by CaseyS' question, as really it's an issue of semantics and popular (if ignorant) terminology used when talking about aftermarket air intake systems that can and does confuse the consumer in many cases. It's just the fact that the system you are selling really isn't a true cold air system, so it won't be as effective as it could be as it is supposed to be installed, and it is important for buyers to understand that.

That all being said, for $100 or whatever you sell it for, it's not a bad deal since it looks like at the least you can replace the factory bellows and resonator box with the pipe included in the kit. The filter might not be useful for our application but I'm sure it could be sold by the buyer to someone on Ebay and recoup part of the cost of the kit. The Air Doc for the 3.5L is $156 plus shipping, so $100 for this is worth it for just the pipe alone, provided it's the right length, which it looks like it is.

You are incorrect about this product in some ways and making assumptions of it based off of other kits... You know how it seals??? You have seen the gaps on this model???? You have seen the shield fitment??? Its called and labeled exactly what it is. This is exactly how the basic CAI were designed for years. Not misleading in any way. Yes there are newer closed box systems. ARE THERE BETTER $300 options??? Sure what does that have to do with my thread???? I am not asking for a comparison. That is really silly when somebody is trying to sell something. Legit question if you were trying to sell a 6 cylinder H3 and somebody came into your thread implying the 6 was no good and then turned the thread into how much better they thought the v8 model was, wouldn't you find that strang, annoying, and counter productive? ????. Having owned, used, and installed EVERY brand of CAI I would not call myself ignorant. Again THIS IS NOT A PRODUCT REVIEW THREAD. This is a thread of somebody trying to sell a new product that will out perform the factory one with this being MUCH CHEAPER THAN ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVE with more parts. All the other stuff is not needed and not helpful to me selling this or a buyer who may be interested in a simple cheap mod. Especially since you were able to see the legit value in it.

Personal attacks won't gain you any points here bud. I never said anything about your knowledge or lack there of, just how the use of the term "cold air" is often misused by manufacturers. You could simply have countered with an intelligent response about how this particular version is different and how it really is a cold air intake. If you had done that and included pics or at least detail descriptions of how it's installed then everyone would've been happy.

Instead you resorted to taking the perceived suggestion that you were wrong as a personal attack and then had to attack back with blustery words about how we don't know anything and you do and we should just take your word for it. Looking at this kit sitting on your table it's difficult to see how it's any different from any other kit that calls itself "cold air" when they really aren't. So maybe next time put on your big boy shorts, stop assuming everyone is attacking you, and answer with facts and more information, which is all either CaseyS or myself wanted to see.

BTW, there is no such thing as a 6 cylinder H3, there are only the 5 cylinder inline 3.5L and 3.7L, and the 8 cylinder V 5.3L. The Colorado was the same during those years.

Not your bud and I personally attacked no one. Stop diverting my for sale thread. The pictures have nothing to do with the fact you came up with a whole list of criticism that you did not witness for my product. How is that "intelligence. " Your speculation is not wanted. As an adult I also dont need your suggestion on how to waste my valuable time to handle somebody who clearly came into my thread to downgrade a legit good and fair deal. GREEN is known for having higher quality and better insulating and sealing shields. I dont have to post an install vid or instructions to prove something to you and the other guy when you are not interested in the item. Just interested in talking junk about it. I should not have to defend random and senseless post in my own for sale thread to people who are not potential buyers. That's a witch hunt.

To be honest i think you are the one that may be a little misled and falling for marketing. Just because a higher end product or newer different design comes out does not mean this product or style is no longer considered a CAI. Lol... Like i said in theory the 100% sealed box units work differently and are more complex. They are larger. Weigh a lot more. They also cost a ton more. Even some test out there to show it doesn't always work like the theory suggests. I personally love them but for the price sometimes it doesn't make sense on certain vehicles. You can call it what you want the fact of the matter is they are still and were always considered cai.

The 6 and 8 cylinder is a generic example. However, will flat out admit even though of course i know of the 5 cylider (no explanation needed since its a 5 cylinder part).and knew of the 8( because i have worked on them and even have a 5.3 out of one. )Totally forgot or thought there was no 6 cylinder option. Never really realized there were just 2 different sized 5 cylinders. Care to answer the question or is that just your way to dance around it? If you have no interest to buy make a separate tech thread for your opinion. Seems like common sense and just plain courtesy

Ha Ha Ha. Did someone get through the internet into your little "safe space"?

Join date of 3/2/16. Total of 8 posts, 7 in this thread. So you joined and first thing out of the box post something to sell. Then you jump around all defensive when someone asks a question if the thing you are selling actually does what it claims.

I see you own an H2. So you either bought the wrong part and are trying to unload it here and recoup some cash, or you are a distributor for green filters trying to push some product.

Good luck in your sale! Looks like you joined here after no one on hummerforums.com jumped on it after two weeks.

I see an angled piece of plastic in the pics but don't see that being anywhere tall enough to seal off the front left corner of the engine bay. The factory air box is at least 8" tall.

Website for the kit doesn't help explain this very much either.

You are such a know it all goof you think you can tell or assume why somebody has said part. Get a life and stop trolling my thread making up imaginary scenarios. That is weird and stalker creepy. So what correct i have it listed on another forum.. got some pms but no payments....get a life instead of worrying and making stuff up about random strangers. Cleaning out my shop and selling new random parts i never used or dont need so i can have spare cash to finish my H2 and start my race car. Came here to buy H2 parts too. None of your business but since you like to troll just throwing that out there for you. Typical know it all. Lol @ being a distributor you are delusional. Go away.

Lol. ITS METAL NOT PLASTIC genius . With a ruber seal to make it seet. This is exactly why internet info is so dangerous. You have somebody who doesn't know that the heat shelid is metal and not plastic... That should be like step one before you give an imaginary product review.

Its a GM Test/ Dev vehicle. Cheap project winter beater... deal with it. Learn how to read like I said cleaning out my garage/storage for new parts I have. Check my trader feedback. I buy and sell stuff on forums all the time. Cars are my hobby. 8 car garage 2 car garage and a driveway full of normal cool cars could care less what you think of my poor little truck. Get a life and stop stalking me on the internet.

lol Sees a new legit part online posted for a cheap price in the right section from a new active member. Gets angry because he does not like the way basic CAI work and tries to sabotage for sale thread and begins to google stalk and follow seller online. Worse detective ever...

GN4life, I don't want to stick it to you either but if you researched this forum a little you would see that it is not a typical mall crawler/tuner style of forum. It is small and geared (pun intended) more to offroading. So when a new member jumps in to sell a product that appears to be even part of his name "GN4LIFE" it kind of raises red flags. Feel free to post for sale items but remember that members are also free to post questions opinions if they want. From the 15 minutes I researched it I have found that other forums and their members say it is a Chinese K&N knock off and that is not just my opinion.

Too many assumptions and just flat out made up stuff here at this point. Gn stands for Grand National...How that is suspect i have no idea. I am a member of any car forum i have owned for a few months... raced, worked on or daily drove. There are dozens and dozens of car forums where people work on and extensively modify cars or trucks.

Googling a bogus claim is not "research. " Greens basic kits are of the same sytle as K&N or any other open filter basic CAI as already discussed in this thread. Having handled and owning a lot of both i can tell you Greens filter is different.... the gauge of the sheild is much thicker. The intake tubes also are smoother and of a better quality. Not that that stuff is a huge difference because K&N has the best warranty and customer service in the industry and they stand by their stuff no matter what. So even though it may not be as heavy duty as some of the GREENS components it wont matter because K&N backs there stuff 100%. Which is rare. Would for sure say that Green stuff is normally of higher quality than some of the comparable K&N models.

So no not a "cheap Chinese copy." Similar design.... of course. ...its an open filter that has to fit into similar dimensions and work with stock provisions .

Okay guys, time to simmer down.

  • There are no forum rules about posting comments (or criticism) in a For Sale thread. Not always the best etiquette, but it's not against forum rules. (If a post is clearly commercial, or the sale is fraudulent, please speak up. I don't see that here.)
  • As a seller, one needs to have thicker skin. Just because someone does not like your product does not make that person or his actions "creepy". Secondly, posting a link to another forum (as was done in your intro thread) is extremely bad etiquette and is grounds for removal from the forum.

I'm leaving the posts up because there is actually some good conversation between the bull:swear:. Treat others as you want to be treated.

This guy is sure passionate about a random part he has laying around his apartment. I'm sure he doesn't have a skid of them in a storage unit he is trying to make a quick buck on. I have been running a true cold air intake (Air Hog) with a Magnaflow cat back for ten years. There is zero HP gain with out increasing your exhaust. I'm guessing my set up is a 10hp gain. Only noticeable pulling a trailer or high way passing. No AWD dyno's in my area to give the real numbers. If you think you can blow cold air up this groups ars, well, good luck ..........

Then you have my apologies for my assumption. FYI, I had the K&N but the open filter box allowed too much dust in and clogged the filter.
