Speaker Replacement - HELP!

Hello, I am new to all this and working on cars. I bought a 2010 Hummer H3T. The speaker sound on the drivers side sounds terrible. It rumbles. I thought it would help to replace the door speakers, so I bought new kicker CS speakers and installed them. But now I keep reading that changing the speakers wont really help with the overall sound and that the stock ones are what are optimal for the car. It sounds like in order to really made your car sound better, its gotta be a full setup change-out. I feel like I have made a mistake replacing the speakers and now I am wondering if I should change the rear ones like I planned. I also think maybe its the tweeters that are busted?? IDK what I am doing.

Take a deep breath lol. I know how it feels but seriously changing the speakers is fine. I've changed mine several times. If you like the speaker brand you purchased feel free to continue. The tweets can be changed too.

Hello and welcome to the club. It's real a peace of cake to change . You have only 3 or 4 screws inside , in the door handel to remove, a few clips around the door panel to loose and it's all open view.

What's optimal for the car is really what's optimal for you. If you like the improvement you can stop there. If you want more, you can do more. But car stereo can be a slippery slope of always wanting another upgrade! Fixing a speaker is like a PCM tune on an I5 - it's a nice improvement, but not like going to a 5.3. Of course, once you have a 5.3 you'll realize what a good upgrade a 6.2 is. But wouldn't it be nice to have a diesel . . .

Is it the Monsoon system? That's a great system..and if it were me, I'd personally stick with an OEM (used) speaker. Esp if you're using the OEM amp. Because now you're mis-matching speakers. There's impedence which is going to be hard to match (OEM) and I personally wouldn't want to mis-load the amp circuits. It'll probably be ok, but different impedence and sensitivities are going to "maybe" (depending on what you bought vs what's in there), could make the new speaker sound weaker. Again, IDK what you bought. The OEM speaker should have been marked on the back of it's magnet.

So, if the Kicker doesn't work out (sounds quieter, etc) try a used OEM speaker from Ebay or something. I rent (nice) new cars all the time, the Monsoon system in my H3 still holds its own IMO against even really good new car's premium systems.

Look at Crutchfield, even if it's just to find out what should work with your setup and then look for deals elsewhere. The stock Monsoon speakers are 4 ohm impedance, so as long as you stick with that you'll be fine. There's a ton of options for that (Crutchfield lists 202 options just for the front door) so you shouldn't have any issues finding a decent set.
