Even with all the liberals here in co, everyone I know is out buying more guns!!

I took a few liberals out during lunch breaks at work so they can order or DROS their lower AR receivers. Every moderate I know [myself included] who has the cash are picking up things if they haven't already owned what they wanted.

Tomorrow is going to be interesting.

I'm suspecting mostly action on a unified mental health/criminal database, a banning of imported sporting/"assault" rifles, and the elimination of private / gunshow sales unless theres a check and wait period at an FFL. I suspect AWB features/models bans would take a few months to try to get through a committee, etc.

However, if theres more than that then all bets are off I imagine...

That guy is my new hero. I don't even know where to start with how f-ed up NY is. Dont get me wrong i love NY its a beautiful state with loads of potential, but its early lacking the kind of people that this state Senator is, people who are made of character. I am so glad i live in upstate NY, where im atleast surrounded by somewhat like minded people.

Maybe the time has come for when America reminds herself why the Declaration of independence was written. Maybe its events like these that make us stronger. Maybe its time for a renewal of the vows that we as a nation agreed to, its time to know what the Constitution means and what so many men have fought for before us. As much as i hate to say it, maybe its time for a reawakening.

Government has gotten too big, too invasive and too self important. These guys are raised, fed and elected by the parties and Super PACs. As voter we count for less and less every election. There is too much money in politics. Until our representatives are once again beholden to their constituents we will lose more and more freedom. These guys need their leashes pulled hard. That will only help. As much as I hate to say it some of the liberals are doing a great job of representing their districts. When someone as unhinged as Pelosi can keep getting elected with 76% of the vote she becomes who she is. Politics and politicians are only one of the cancers eating at this country.

I know you carry, I just didn't realize you were such a gun guy. My CCW Permit should be on the way - finally found time to take the class 2 days before the SH shooting, but I'm more of a plinker. I like shooting, but for me it's targets not hunting or prepping. I'm very pro-2nd amendment, anti-gun control.

Statistics show gun control does not work. Logic and constitutional rights say the gov't needs to prove why responsible law abiding citizens can't own guns, NOT that responsible law abiding citizens need to prove why we should be allowed to own guns.

Punish the many for the actions of the few. Guilty until proven innocent. Rights...what rights? I don't like the direction that our government is heading and haven't for quite awhile. Certain free thinking flyover states may find themselves with a sudden population boom.

I think our fearless leader will make me a criminal. I own one hand gun for personal protection has a 15+1 mag in it. That makes me criminal according to his high mag proposal. Brilliant

Nothing hes proposing is going to make past Congress in its current form. [mag limits, universal background check, AWB 2.0, etc].

I'm fine with the universal background check personally, everything else is going to be a tough sell.

Today was political posturing, so The President can blame congress when nothing happens later this year.

It's not going to cut down or help the panic buying however.

There is going to be a lot of pressure on Congress to do something. I wouldn't be surprised at anything but doubt some of the items get through Congress. I can see a possible ban on imported ammo and imported "assault weapons" and I use that term because it has already been coined, not because it is accurate. I can see a universal background check possibly making it through because lawmakers will feel compelled to do something. I don't agree with any of the above. Background checks are a defacto means of registration. No crook is going to buy a gun from me because they aren't going to pay retail for it. They are going to buy it for $50-100.00 out of the trunk of a car from the guy that stole it. Why pay $1100.00 for a 1911 from me when they can buy it from Joe the Crook for a fraction of that? As long as I am a responsible citizen there should be very few limits on what I can buy.
I am not even in favor of some of the mental health items Obama is putting forth. Crazy people are frequently crazy like a fox. They won't go for treatment if they think their mental health caregiver might turn them in. Also, whatever happened to doctor/patient confidentiality?
Typical Obama though, he comes out and places the onus on Congress/the Republicans, not the nut jobs that committed the crimes and broke all of the laws. The only thing he said that I agreed with was to enforce the laws on the books with more vigor. We don't need new laws stacked on top of old laws we just need them to enforce the laws we have. ( and that goes for laws on immigration, firearms, etc )

I agree to some items. I can see the imported stuff going since if the congress does not vote on it, Obama can stop the importation anyway. (Bush stopped imports of foreign made "assault" weapons in 1989.)

However, I'm not sure any of the US manufactured assault weapons or magazine bans will make it past Harry Reid. Harry has already stated that if a bill comes up he knows won't pass in the house, he will not bring it up to vote since it could hurt some of his buddy democratic senators. There are six senators up for re-election in 2014 who are from "red states." Not sure of their names, but they are from AK, SD, AR, MT, SC and one more state can't remember. Harry does not want to force them to vote for a ban, knowing they might not get re-elected in those red states. And he is probably not too sure if they would vote for a ban anyway.

I personally would be surprised if anything comes of this in regard to actual weapons. I can see the gun show loophole being changed and a more extensive background check going through congress; but I can't see much else being done in the next two years.

But hell, what do I know....

I like shooting too. I've got too injuries to worry about having to defending myself.
As for what's been going on I'm just real tired of the ignorance comming out of the left. I watched one interview where the antigun person started talking about banning grenade launchers.
Today I wasn't able to catch BOs speech (which just broke my heart:roll. So I put on CNN since I figured they would be crowing about a win. Well Wolf was on interviewing a Texas official about BOs plan. in the middle of a sentence Wolf asks if Texas plans to succede from the union. When the Texas official asked what he was talking about. Wolf said he just wanted to be clear on that subject. Wolf also kept asking the Texan if Congess passes the law will Texas follow them. You could tell the Texan was getting frustrated. He finally tell Wolf a law that violates the constitutin is not a legal law. Wolf ignored that. What a moron.

The more i dive into the new NY law, the scarier it becomes. SO 7 rounds per mag is the limit now. Turns out that some lever action rifles may fall into this category depending on how the tube that holds the bullets is classified. If it is classified as a magazine by these morons, then those need to be modified, may even become completely illegal. I am also concerned with how readily 7 round magazines are going to become available from manufacturers. It may be time to move out of NY :sigh::gaah::shame:

Saw that list. On the surface it doesn't sound too bad, until you start thinking about it. Arbitrary gov't controlled classification of mental illness, national registry giving the gov't a list of every gun anyone buys, weakening HIPAA (forget about keeping your medical issues secret from the gov't), and spelling out that your doctor can (is encouraged to?) ask you what guns you own... I have serious doubts about the constitutional legality of some of this. What he is encouraging congress to do is far worse.

And that NY stuff, I have no clue how something so ridiculous could ever be passed. Max 7 round mag capacity? Background checks for ammunition? New classification of what an "assault weapon" is? Absurd.
