I currently have a 2018 ZR2 diesel

I really enjoy the truck, it’s a beast but I have always wanted the the H3T Alpha (I also have an H3 3.5).

1. What would you guys prefer????
2. Would you trade for the H3T???

You'll have to drive an H3T ALpha to see what you'd prefer.

Probably would feel a lot less responsive (even w/the LS V8) and ride like an old truck (which it is relatively speaking) compared to your ZR2.

Of course, the H3T looks WAY WAY better.

lol.. it’s a different truck but the same engineer build both.

The H3T just looks so beautiful. It’s already already a classic.

If you don't wrench on your vehicles yourself, any of the older H3/H3T's by now are likely to require a fair amt of ongoing (perhaps costly) maintenance. Parts are harder to get. Just something too keep in mind.

I agree - you're looking at a minimum of eight years difference in age and a challenge in getting parts for H3s. You have to really want one (which isn't hard to do, in my opinion). But you deal with the challenge of a discontinued brand - both in name and support. Other than the support you get here.

So, what you really do is swap the drivetrain and suspension from that ZR2 into the H3 . . .

I've told a lot of H3 "Gawkers" who've approached me, basically the same thing. I've told them "if they are their own mechanic and can handle about EVERY task, they're great to own. But if you have to rely on a garage to repair items large and small, then these H3's will bleed you dry." Some people get bugged-out by this or that problem and after 3 issues most people want to 'bail' and go buy a new car. Those are NOT the people who should be going out and buying a H3. Neither are young people who don't have much money (unless they have a lot of time and are very resourceful).

Your average joe car-owner should never go buy an H3, unless they have a healthy bank account and another car to drive. Mine has been very reliable, but I keep up with every small thing that comes up ...especially at the beginning when there were a ton of deferred-maintenance items to re-do/fix.

It's in fact to sad, that GM does not think like NIPPON ....... I still can have ALL parts and the engine brand new for my 33 year old Suzuki Samurai ....
