Don't just "screw with the battery". Cut the damn stock battery terminals off and throw them as far as you can. Then install some good ones. These trucks are ridiculously sensitive to any and all voltage variations, and can throw a multitude of seemingly unrelated and random codes and issues...
Exactly my thought. There should be some play in the splined driveshaft joint (at the transfer case). The axle likely slid back a bit at that joint when it dropped down as far as it did; you'll need to slide/force it back toward the front.
Sorry, still just can't get into them without the rear fenders. Surprising to me that no one has done that in the years since these were first made/envisioned.
Having a spare (anything) on the shelf pretty much guarantees that that part will never break/be needed! At least, that's how it normally works for me! :)
My guess is that the only changes would be in the front motor mount area, but not sure. I do know that the firewall in the Alphas was pushed back a bit for the V8 to fit, but not sure if that also translated into any changes on the frame.
