a cheap antenna later, I'm starting my stereo system
and lights are wired... though now there's a new issue of the oil sender not sending.... odds are good that it had something to do with whatever I did tonight... I hate wiring.
and windshield install.... somehow I lost one of the stainless screws for the windshield so that's on my list of things to do along with fix the wiper motor.... grumble
So I went out and looked at the speedometer to see if it works... it doesn't - don't know why, yet... but while I was out
someone asked where my fire extinguishers were.... all over is the answer, but I'm down one now
got a little toasty
The issue was I had two wires swapped (6 and 8) and it got the passenger side red-hot.... of course, that's the side that has the gas tank right above the muffler (yeah, could have been interesting had I not had a strong impression to fill the tank up earlier in the week)
I will put a shield there too.... but that darkening? didn't hurt the coating or the paint at all, that black came from the muffler hanger lighting on fire.
while I was at it tonight I put the turn-outs on
I'm not sure that's what I want - but it'll work for now...
now is the validation time - I have at least 2 oil leaks that need addressing; both are going to be a pain to fix; I also need to fix an exhaust leak on the driver's side....
Anyway, beside it being a smokey beast, I did get a bit accomplished. springs 150# and 250# lowers.... 200/300 was suggested as a starting point, I bought a set of 200s, that got me close, and it settled into pretty close. This is right on... in defense of the supplier, it's hella hard to guess what spring rates you need the first time... he was close
I still need to set the lower spring stop, but at least now it's bolted in place.... and I drove it  it works awesome
side view
and there's the height I wanted now to fix the high-idle, the oil leak from the timing cover, narrowing in on it.
