Our springtime Black Sheep Hummer Week is right around the corner! As usual, we'll start as Easter Jeep Safari ends on Easter Sunday. Most wheeling starts on Monday the 6th, with most attendees arriving on Sunday the 5th. Arrive and depart as it fits in your schedule.
A variety of lodging...
Well, I figured if it was good enough for all of those Russians to do, I would do it too. I decided to do a dash cam installation and I picked a camera that I could move between two vehicles with minimal effort. Both vehicles are hardwired with semi-permanent mounts.
I went with E-Prance Mini...
I was doing a bit of research about my daily driver and found another LED vendor. I know they are almost a dime a dozen now and I've seen some crappy stuff out there. I've bought LEDs that didn't work out of the box, were shipped in plain poly bags stapled closed, etc. Many of them make it hard...
Better late than never in joining the party, right?
Reloader and I installed a transmission cooler in my H3 today, about a week after he did one in his. One of his primary concerns was that maybe he bought a two small of a cooler and after a bit of research, it appears that the 14,400 BTU ones...
This procedure is essentially the same for the 3.5, 3.7 and 5.3, though I've been told the 5.3 does not have the slip shroud on the fan shroud, and that the cooling fan must be removed. Note that pictures from two different radiators are used in this post.

I've had Preferred Chassis Fabrication's Scorpworks Steering Rack Bracket on my H3 for six months now. And it's still an awesome upgrade.
The steering in my H3 has been an on and off drama. Anyone remember the intermediate steering shaft issues back in 06 and 07? Took a few trips to the dealer...
MaxPF helped with some Hummer projects today: rebuilt the passenger side lower control arm (new bushings and ball joint), swapped out the diff, put a new diff mount on the driver's side, swapped in a new axle since my last new axle shot out all of its grease. And put on a new skid plate. And new...
F5 has mentioned this a few times and I finally got around to purchasing them. These protectors slip over the axle to protect the seal from the sharp edges of the splines. The protector has a cutout at the top and will easily slip off the axle when you are finished. They are reusable.

It's time for the annual Stuff the HUMMERs toy drive in Tucson on December 15. This is the event that Cotilo puts together as one of her many community support efforts as you can see here in Team Up for Tucson. If you're in AZ we hope you can make it out!
We should have several forum members...
Been working with supersapper and Nacho on a shirt design for HUMMERgeddon this December and I think we have a pretty cool design.

Front: H4O logo on left breast (can't find a pic right now)
Back: HUMMERgeddon 2012 design

The April 2013 dates have been confirmed with Neo! Start booking your trips for Sunday the 31st through Friday the 5th. As always, it is a come and go affair with some people arriving as early as Friday the 29th. Easter Jeep Safari wraps up that first weekend so lodging could be challenging on...
Backcountryislife and I did a quick run on Hell's Revenge today. We moved quickly, finishing it in 2:50 with our only real slowdown with some Range Rover's ahead of us afraid to drop down a 2' stepped descent. Took them 10+ minutes to do what we did in about 30 seconds.
First, I'm happy to...
Anyone watch it tonight? Pretty funny as they tried to get a Lincoln Town Car, Ford Mustang and Toyota Yaris from Monument Valley to Moab. They were on Lockhart Basin though I think they somehow bypassed a key stretch or two.
Did the Hunner Sleeve install today on my steering rack but added another element to the mix. I put a layer of 1/16 neoprene rubber, 60 durometer, inside the sleeve to make sure the sleeve was really snug plus to add a bit of NVH absorption. The rubber had adhesive on one side to help secure it...
There are two camshaft position sensors on the H3 - Intake and Exhaust. I replaced both of mine after getting a couple of codes a few times over the past year: P0014 and, if I recall correctly, P0340. Both went away after a few engine cycles.
Here are the parts (for my 2007, yours may be...
I did a fluid drain and fill today. I chose not to do a full flush in part as I just wanted to try this out and see the contents of the pan and the state of the old fluid myself. A drain and refill replaces about 5 quarts of fluid and I believe the transmission holds as many as 11 quarts. (Total...
Okay Arizona, time to get the tires dirty. You've got time to plan this one as it is a month away and a full two weeks after Memorial Day weekend.
Sunflower Mine is NE of Phoenix on Highway 87, heading towards Payson. :link: This is a moderately hard trail with some good rock gardens through...
My A pillar trim has busted clips for the third time but now, with no warranty, I didn't want to shell out $90 for a new piece. So I bought a $120 tool to fix the problem :)
I did the repair a the same time that I was running the wires for the Rigid lights and thought I would include a few pics...
Thanks to Tim at Expedition Hardware  for getting me this Gobi and these Rigid Lights. If I didn't have Tim do the ordering I think I'd be sitting here all frustrated that I didn't get the right mounts, correct setup, etc . The Rigid Lights come with complete wiring harness from switch...
